Grocery Stores

The main grocery store in the area is Publix. In the last few years there have been more and more Walmart Neighborhood Markets opening up and there are a few Albertsons and Winn Dixie’s around but you won’t see them that often so I’m not going to focus on them.

Publix is the largest chain here and is actually pretty good.

The Fresh Market only has four stores in the area, with one in Clearwater, and it is a great store.

Whole Foods is a nationwide chain and has a very large, incredible store in Tampa that isn’t too bad of a drive.  There is a new Whole Foods location opening in Clearwater at the Countryside Mall and will be taking half of the first floor of Sears – the announced opening date is September 2014.

Trader Joe’s is a great store that has terrific pricing and some incredibly interesting prepared, packaged and frozen products.  I lived one block away from Trader Joe’s when I lived in Los Angeles and if you’ve never been to one you’re in for a real treat!  The South Tampa location opens March 2014 and the St. Pete location should be opening later in 2014.

Nature’s Food Patch is a very nice, large, healthy-foods store in Clearwater that has an amazing selection and a great prepared foods, salad and bakery section.

Malls

There are various malls and shopping centers around the area.  This is by no means even close to a complete list: these are just a handful of the more commonly visited larger malls visited by those living in North Pinellas and the Beach areas.

Countryside Mall – on the border between Dunedin and Clearwater, a large indoor mall with an ice skating rink in the middle.

Clearwater Mall – an outdoor mall with a lot of the stores you may want to shop at.

International Plaza – located near the Tampa airport this is also another large indoor mall but with more of the high-end stores.

Ellenton Premium Outlets – If you want to go to an outlet mall with some of the top name stores, this is the mall to go to.
